Teaching and Educational Contributions
Dr. Nejla teaches undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) Finance courses and supervises Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) students. Her teaching and learning experiences meet the criteria of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).
Dr. Nejla's teaching philosophy is based on two main objectives:
1- Preparing students to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills by applying several appropriate models of financial analysis, capital budgeting, cost of capital, portfolio management, and efficient diversification.
2- Coaching students for their professional careers as the finance courses are intended to develop and reinforce skills highly needed and valued by employers.

In 2018, she coordinated with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute to review the curriculum for the BBA in Finance and increase the similarity between Finance courses taught at ADU and the CFA module. The BBA in Finance was successfully accredited by the CFA Institute, and Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has become a member of the CFA University Affiliation Programme (UAP). This membership ensures a higher pass rate for Finance graduates in CFA 1 exam, improves their employability, and enhances their professional careers. She also participated in a workshop organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) to review quality assurance for higher education in the UAE, and benchmark the list of required finance courses to be included in all the Finance programs offered by the different universities within the UAE.

In addition, Dr. Nejla twice organized stock market competitions in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).  These attracted more than 100 teams of Business Schools across the UAE who competed in trading AED 1,000,000 of virtual cash on the ADX platform. The top 10 teams who generated the highest returns presented their investment strategies in front of the judges’ panels consisting of professional brokers. In addition, she introduced the Bloomberg Market Certificate (BMC) into her investment courses. The BMC is a self-paced e-learning course available on the Bloomberg for Education website that provides students with an interactive introduction to the financial markets and consists of different finance modules. At completion, students earn an international certificate whcih they add to their CVs.
